"A kingdom divided becomes a desert," is what Jesus said. The other day I wrote about not sweating the small stuff since everything is small stuff. I'm head of an arts organization that's planning a conference in three months.
What goes into the event planning is finding a venue, lining up speakers and workshops, obtaining sponsors, getting the word out and finally being sure the event happens.
There's a group of about eight of us who put this thing together. There are a couple of changes that I want to make, but some of the "old-timers" don't like to mess with tradition and won't agree to my suggestions.
The conference happens once a year. There isn't much organizational continuity and as such, the event doesn't change.
I'm a lover, not a fighter and willing to relent to the status quo because whether or not my approach is adopted will make no difference in how the conference happens.
The dinner we arranged is a pretty good menu and precedes the activity I wanted to change. I'll settle for just a tasty dessert!
