When I first moved to Boulder, I lived in a spiritually-centered cooperative house. One of my roommates was Hindu. She observed that people who take their own lives think they can avoid the pain and suffering of earthly living.
Her perspective was that the reason we have to endure the good and bad of three-dimensional life is to get us ready for death. If we die too soon at our own hand, we cheat ourselves and the afterlife is even harder life.
Jesus says in the Lenten lesson, "Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life."
Don't be too tough on yourself. Live life without judgement. Occurrences are neither good or bad, they just happen. That attitude will serve you whether on earth or out of the world.
