Oops!

I love cashews but cashews do not love my tummy (numerous hernias) particularly when I eat too much of them. Two years ago just after Christmas I did such a thing and after dry retching for some hours I collapsed in the toilet and ended up in hospital having broken two bones in my right leg. whilst in hospital I swallowed my bottom false plate which entailed going from one hospital to another, put to sleep and false teeth retrieved by surgeons- no damage. after hospital stay it was off to rehab for exercises. When the haze cleared in my mind I was brought very low. I found it very hard to pray, read the Bible and go to Church. One of the greatest gifts in my life apart from wife and family is my spiritual director. He suggested that I was experiencing a "dark night of the soul" and this rang a bell in my mind and soul and so I had a sabbatical from Church and through that experience found a renewed faith in God which has allowed me to learn to live with my own paradoxes in my life and faith and enjoy the uncertainties that come with being a human being in an uncertain world.
